Ohana RAL

Care in a real home, close to family.

Ohana RAL is a residential assisted living home for the Upstate of South Carolina. A small group of residents, familiar routines, and a care team that knows each person by name. Ohana is the Hawaiian word for family.

Why families choose a small home

Moving a parent or grandparent into care is hard. A smaller setting keeps the day familiar: the same kitchen, the same faces, the same routines.

Fewer residents

Caregivers learn what each person eats for breakfast, when they like to rest, and what a good day looks like for them.

A home setting

Meals come from a home kitchen. Rooms open onto shared living space instead of long corridors.

Easy to visit

Homes sit in residential neighborhoods across the Upstate, so family can stop by without a trip to a large campus.

Daily care

Assisted living means help with the parts of the day that have become difficult, while residents keep as much independence as they can.

Personal care
Help with bathing, dressing, grooming and getting around the home.
Meals
Home-cooked meals and snacks, planned around each resident's needs and preferences.
Medication
Medication reminders and assistance, coordinated with each resident's doctors.
Daily life
Housekeeping, laundry, and activities in the home that fit the people who live there.

Questions families ask

What is residential assisted living?

It is a small home in a neighborhood where a limited number of residents live together and receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, meals and medication reminders.

How is a small home different from a large assisted living community?

A small home has fewer residents, one shared kitchen and living area, and a care team that sees the same faces every day. Large communities offer more amenities and more residents.

Is Ohana RAL licensed?

In South Carolina, assisted living is licensed as a Community Residential Care Facility through the South Carolina Department of Public Health. Ohana RAL will post its license information here once it is issued.
